About Me

Footwear has been a passion since her first Saturday job at 15 years old working at Clarks as a trained Childrens shoe fitter; she held the position for 6 years. This inspired Gemma to change from Garment design to shoe design and she studied at De Montfort University and gained a BA hons in footwear design. During this time she also did a valuable work experience at Clarks, Street studying the ‘Shoe master’ cad/cam system.

Gemma has worked in the footwear inductry since 1995 for various different companies within the uk industry and have specialised in Sports, kids, men\’s and ladies casual footwear, young fashion footwear, slippers, moulded footwear and print design.

Sold my sole freelance design and consultancy was started in 2008 and is building up a portfolio of customers which include brands, footwear suppliers and retail. Gemma is a highly organised and competent footwear designer who is able to innovate within commercial boundaries and with extensive knowledge through frequent travel to the Far East of requirements of both the customer and the factories.

Working her way through the footwear ranks, working as a kids shoe fitter to design manager with 4 designers working within my team. From old fashioned paper and pencil design to cad design, she is very competent using computer packages Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

I have been lucky enough to travel the world with my love for shoes; nothing gives me greater enjoyment – especially when I see people wearing shoes I have designed.
