Shoe Research

Being a massive fan of design, shoe design in particular I love nothing more than researching for inspiration! With the area of design I usually specialise in I have keep a close eye on high street trends. In the footwear industry we usually work 1 to 1 1/2 seasons ahead of what is selling in the shops. Designer brands can take up to a season to filter through to the high street. On my face book page, sold my sole I look at different shoes review them and get my followers opinions. Some are un wearable, some shoes are the unaffordable but we always have a giggle!

Another inspiration I always find good is Northampton Shoe Museum. Northampton once was the British shoe capital but due to production being moved abroad unfortunately there are only a few companies left. The shoe museum shows a history of footwear from the very first shoes to up to date styles from the rich and famous! Even if you are not a designer it is really interesting!

100 followers on face book!

Hi I’m back to blog again

Its been a hard week in shoe world had a lot of freelance footwear design projects to do including Kids trainers and slippers. My shoe designs are improving (if I do say so myself) being freelance, its is far more inspiring than being a hamster in a large shoe design wheel for a big company. I really enjoy the diversity of one day designing shoes for a function and the next a shoe which is bought mainly as a Christmas present. I enjoy working for different companies, I have been designing for the shoe industry now for 16 years and I am still learning and picking up new skills. I used ‘Indesign’ for the first time last night for a presentation. Bare in mind I come from the old school where I graduated from University using pencil, paper and a photocopier! I use adobe illustrator to draw with but I love the creativity you get with hand drawing, nothing better than sketching.

Thank you to all my facebook followers, sold my sole on facebook now has 100 people, I hope you find my reviews interesting. I do love my shos!!

Sold my sole Facebook page goes live!

Hello welcome back shoe lovers!

This week my face book page sold my sole went live! As a shoe designer I enjoy designing shoes for the major high street retailers and it is so good to get feedback! I love to hear what the consumer thinks about what is available out there in store and what is missing! I am aiming to review the shoes I think are great and hopefully you will too! I will also look for thrifty good alternatives to designer shoes.

Footwear design for me is a job but also a passion! There is nothing better than seeing a shoe I have designed on somebody’s feet! you just get the biggest buzz. Being a freelance footwear designer I can also turn my hand to different genders and genres of design. I never feel ‘shoe dead’ as I am always looking for the next new thing!

Please have a look at my face book pictures, please feel free to add your own photo’s of your favourite shoes!
